Complete Document Checklist

Gathering all required documents is the most crucial part of your Stipendium Hungaricum application. Start early and ensure all documents meet the specific requirements. Below is the master list of everything you need to upload to the DreamApply portal.

  • 1. Online Application Form (Official Website)

Complete all sections accurately with matching information in all documents. Apply here.

  • 2. Motivation Letter

Clearly explain why you chose the specific program, university, and the Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship. Use our SOP Outliner to structure it perfectly.

  • 3. Proof of Language Proficiency

Submit proof of language proficiency of your selected program's language (usually English). Some universities accept a Medium of Instruction (MOI) certificate from your previous school, but many specifically prefer IELTS or TOEFL.

  • 4. School Certificates and Transcripts

Scanned copies of your high school diploma (for Bachelor's) or Bachelor's degree (for Master's), along with your academic transcripts. These must be translated into English or Hungarian if originally in another language.

  • 5. Medical Certificate

You MUST use the official medical certificate template provided on the Stipendium Hungaricum website. Print it, undergo the required tests (usually blood tests and a chest X-ray), and have a licensed physician sign and stamp it.

  • 6. Copy of Passport

A scanned copy of your valid national passport. Ensure it is valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended stay in Hungary.

  • 7. Portfolio (If Applicable)

Required ONLY for Art, Architecture, or Music programs. A showcase of your best work relevant to your field.

  • 8. Research Plan & Recommendations (For PhD)

PhD applicants must submit a detailed research proposal and two letters of recommendation from academic supervisors.

Missing a Document?

If you are currently in your final year and haven't received your diploma yet, you can upload a Declaration stating that you will provide the missing document by August 1st.

Document Preparation Tips

The Tempus Public Foundation (TPF) is extremely strict about document formatting. A poorly scanned document can result in immediate rejection.

1

Start collecting documents at least 2-3 months before the Jan 15 deadline.

2

Make colored scans of all original documents (do not upload blurry phone photos).

3

Name files clearly before uploading (e.g., Passport_Scan.pdf).

4

Keep file sizes within the specified limits (usually under 4MB per file on DreamApply).

Country-Specific Rules (Sending Partners)

Crucial Rule: Applying on the DreamApply portal is only half the process. You MUST also apply to your home country's Sending Partner (usually your Ministry of Education).

Example: Requirements for Bangladeshi Students

  • You must submit a separate application on the Bangladesh Ministry of Education website.
  • A Police Clearance Certificate is essentially required by the Ministry.
  • All academic documents must be officially notarized by a first-class gazetted officer.
  • You must submit hard copies of all documents to the Ministry in Dhaka before their deadline.

Every country has different internal rules. Always check the specific requirements outlined by your national sending authority.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to translate my documents?

Yes. If your original diplomas, transcripts, or certificates are not in English or Hungarian, you must upload the original document AND a certified, official English translation.

Can I submit missing documents after the January deadline?

Only specific documents (like the Medical Certificate or your final diploma if you haven't graduated yet) can be submitted later, provided you uploaded a formal "Declaration" by the January deadline. The final deadline for missing documents is typically August 1st.

Do I need an IELTS score?

It depends entirely on your chosen Hungarian university. While the Tempus Public Foundation allows MOI (Medium of Instruction) certificates, many top universities (like ELTE or BME) strictly require an official IELTS or TOEFL score. Furthermore, Sending Partners often prioritize candidates with high IELTS scores during the nomination phase.
